Juicy Fruit
I love it when I learn something meaningful, even when I’m being narrow minded and resistant. Sometimes — or maybe much of the time — I am my own worst critic, my mind turning into a bobblehead blatherskite — you can’t do this, you can’t do that, this is junk, this doesn’t look like a car, it looks like a roller skate. Blah, blah, blah.
And then someone who’s been there comes along.
This piece took about 30 minutes, and the idea was to paint high chroma translucency. I baulked at the thought of doing this, but was more or less shamed into it by one of my favorite painters, Tim Horn. I have to say, Tim was right and I was … resistant. How many times have I held myself back because I thought I couldn’t do something? I don’t even want to think about it. Those, my friends, are what we call limiting beliefs. If you think you can, or if you think you can’t, you’re right.
Mahalo, Tim. I owe you.
