Valley Farm
It was the sky that kept pushing me toward my paint box, urging me to see if I could capture it. I painted that colorful, swirly sky quickly, playing with the paint and keeping it thin to where pieces of my underpainting showed through.
I like the way the sky turned out. It's the rest of the painting that I hemmed and hawed over. I definitely over-worked it ... dinked and fiddled and fussed and ... and ... my non-restraint was a great lesson in the painterly notion of knowing when to quit.
Still, the scene takes me somewhere as I look at it, and there is great value in the journey.
